Cross Engineers is currently working on the design for a new Kitsap County Courthouse building. The new courthouse building is anticipated to be approximately 72,000 square feet and will house administration offices, court rooms and correctional holding facilities. Cross Engineers is responsible for site lighting/power, interior lighting, power, fire alarm and telecommunications design. This facility will also have a new generator system for back-up of courthouse and correctional holding facilities.
Cross Engineers provided electrical design for a new 16,000 square foot fire station/administration facility. The new fire station consisted of three (3) stories for district administration staff, fire personnel, community space and three (3) pull through apparatus bays. Cross Engineers was responsible for interior lighting, power, fire alarm, communications and site lighting/power design. A generator system was also designed to provide back-up power to the station.
Cross Engineers provided the electrical design for the Lakewood Police Department Headquarters building. This 43,100 square foot facility includes office space, conference space, holding cells, evidence storage and a gun range. Cross Engineers was responsible for site lighting, interior lighting, power, fire alarm, and telecommunications design. This design included generator back up for the entire facility.
This facility located in the City of Tacoma is an L-Shaped 75,000 square foot, 3-story facility on a 10.5 acre campus located in Tacoma Washington, consisting of a 3-story portion for police operations and a 1-story portion for public meeting spaces.
Key features of sustainable design that Cross Engineers prepared were:
Cross Engineers provided the original electrical design (1953) for this 11 story facility that houses County Administration, Sheriff Department, Court Rooms, Detention, and Telecommunication and Radio Centers. Cross Engineer’s design scope included lighting, lighting controls, power distribution, telecommunications, public address, fire alarm, and generator back-up. Cross Engineers has provided electrical design for major additions and remodels that include Courtroom and Law Library wings, Jail Additions, and upgrading the Primary Distribution system.
Pierce County City Building Main Jail HVAC System Replacement Project (under construction)
This Main Jail HVAC System Replacement project upgraded the existing mechanical systems to improve ventilation within 35,000 square foot of the Medical Wing, portions of the Jail, and Administrative areas, to meet current Mechanical Code requirements. All ceiling spaces in these areas had to be removed to allow new ductwork. Cross Engineers was responsible for field verification of the existing electrical conditions, and to provide design for new energy efficient detention grade lighting throughout with new energy saving lighting controls. Cross Engineers also provided design for re-connection of the existing power systems, along with adding a new 480V distribution system to handle new chiller, cooling towers, and associated pumps. Upgrade of this system is occurring while the Jail, Courtrooms, and administration are operational.
The existing facility was constructed in 1991. Cross Engineers as the electrical subconsultant is currently upgrading the lighting, security, UPS and generator to expand the facility to handle additional callS for the City of Sumner and Orting. This is a critical facility in operation 24/7/365. The facility will be fully operational and occupied during remodel of the building and upgrades to the existing systems.
